A Room of One’s Own

Surprised that book-lovers’ blogs not more widely recognised as World Wide Web’s most important gift to humanity over last 25 years. Sum of own human happiness undoubtedly increased by finding Am Not Alone in obscure reading passions.

Have recently been inspired to re-read absolute childhood favourite, and found it wonderful as ever. Realise that have spent life secretly longing for Nan’s parlour – not just for clearly-remembered details of sprigged curtains and small writing-desk complete with pale pink note-paper, but as special place to be private and undisturbed.

Will have to carry on longing.
